The San Francisco chapter of the Institute for International Film Financing (IIFF) continues its popular monthly gatherings at the junction of film & finance with a special Film Financing Townhall at the renowned Academy of Art University. Their facilities are conveniently located across the street from the Palace Hotel in downtown San Francisco.

This grassroots community get-together is designed to foster & inform productive relationships between attendees. It provides unbiased insight & education about the business of film and film financing in particular. The event features a powerful roster of highly topical speakers from the filmmaking and financial industries. We are delighted to welcome real-world financiers among our guests!

The evening's five presentations plus panel discussion address key issues relevant to filmmakers, financiers and anyone interested in the economics, business mechanics, and financial dynamics of motion pictures. They are followed by Q&A time. Attendees also have ample opportunity to interact & network with our featured experts and amongst themselves.

An informal après-meeting celebration will take place at a nearby restaurant.

Host logoThis month's Film Financing Townhall in San Francisco is hosted by the esteemed Academy of Art, a leading private university founded in 1929 in San Francisco. With nearly 10,000 students that occupy its 30+ buildings in downtown San Francisco, AAU is considered the largest private school of art and design in the United States. It offers both traditional on-campus and online distance-education degree and certificate programs in a wide variety of fine arts-related majors, including Motion Pictures & Television and Animation & Visual Effects. Speaker Bios

Danae Ringelmann

Speaker headshot 1Danae Ringelmann co-founded crowdfunding platform IndieGoGo.com to democratize fundraising. She serves as IndieGoGo's COO and brings finance and entertainment industry expertise to the company. Danae has spoken at the Producers Guild of America (PGA), International Documentary Association (IDA), Digital Hollywood, Los Angeles Film Festival, Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI), Women in Film & TV, TieCon, UGCX and UC Berkeley. Fast Company Magazine recently named her one of the Top 50 Women Innovators in Technology. Prior to IndieGoGo, Danae was a Securities Analyst at Cowen & Co., where she covered entertainment companies including Pixar, Lionsgate, Disney and Electronic Arts. She also focused on cable network, NFL, newspaper and hedge fund clientele while at JPMorgan's Investment Bank and Private Bank. In the wake of 9/11, Danae co-produced a concert reading of "Incident at Vichy," an Arthur Miller play addressing the politically charged topic of racial profiling. She is a CFA charterholder and has an MBA degree from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. Danae graduated with a BA in Humanities from UNC-Chapel Hill, where she was a Morehead Scholar and varsity rower. (more) »

Some of his past clients/strategic relationships have included Stanford, E*Trade, LSI Logic, Toshiba, NEC, Intel, Carlson Marketing, Sears, Ingram Micro, Pan Am, NW Airlines, SuperMac, TBC, PacificUS and ADG. Previously, he was a General Manager of Video 7, the multi-media division within LSI Logic, helping pioneer multi-media industries, developing a top customer rating, channel and brand, and forging relationships with leading players in the tech industry such as Microsoft, HP, TechData, Arrow, Lucas Arts and AutoDesk. Before that, George served as the Product Marketing Manager at ComputerLand, the largest reseller and integrator of PCs in the world, where he was responsible for over $1 Billion in revenues while managing private label line brands such as IBM and Japanese vendors including Toshiba, NEC, Okidata, Epson and Star. Thomas Trenker

An innovative and ambitious social-impact organization, IIFF endeavors to bridge the gap between the worlds of filmmaking and finance for the benefit of all stakeholders including the public at large. Founded in 2003 and headquartered in San Francisco, IIFF has active chapters in multiple cities across the U.S. and continues to expand.

In his role as Managing Director of FilmAngels, Thomas also runs the world's first professional angel investor group for film. FilmAngels has been modeled after the way successful angel networks function in Silicon Valley and adapted to the unique characteristics of the movie industry. It focuses exclusively on funding independent films and film-related ventures.
